Description and notes
Porthole perfume sample decant by Loumari is a unisex fragrance launched in 2022 , created by perfumer Camille Chemardin . This perfume is inspired by the feeling of being immersed in a crystal clear, deep blue sea, where the body is embraced by the clear water, and the senses are renewed at the surface.
Fragrance notes :
- Top notes : Pineapple, bergamot essence, iodine/salt
- Heart notes : Passion fruit, ginger, white flower essences
- Base notes : Caramel, white musk, modern woods
Porthole opens with a burst of juicy bergamot and passion fruit, accompanied by a subtle spicy note from ginger. The fruity notes are reminiscent of Byredo Pulp, but without the overripe nuances. The pineapple is more transparent in this scent and is well balanced with the rest of the fruits. Throughout the middle phase, the fruits remain dominant, while salty and musky notes emerge, with a hint of flowers peeking through. In the base, the fruits are still present, while wood and caramel add a sweetness that rounds out the scent.
This scent is not overly unique, but for those looking for quality, they will find it here. The fruits are very juicy, giving the scent a high-quality feel. The creation of a sea-like saltiness without any seaweed or fishy smell is very appealing. The pineapple may not be as prominent as expected, but the balance that the perfumer has created is satisfying. From a distance (about a meter) I was told I smelled pineapple, so it is possible that I did not notice it myself. The performance is impressive; I easily achieve 12 hours in the summer months, and on clothing (under a shirt) it can last quite a long time. The projection zone is also well done, with about a meter of range in the summer. I find that in the cooler months the scent is a bit more linear, with the fruits taking center stage. This may be a refreshing change for those who want a tropical fragrance experience in the fall or winter months. While not overly unique, the quality is good enough that I am very interested in trying other offerings from this house. The floral notes may be off-putting to some, but I think they add a nice touch. The price point is quite high, so I would recommend trying a sample first to see if there are other options available.
Porthole is a colorful perfume, with its iodized notes that take you on a journey and let you feel the splash of the waves. The exoticism is present, found in the fruity and tart scents of pineapple and passion fruit. Resolutely summery, sunny, warm, Porthole is finally soft and gourmand, with caramelized notes. It's there, right on the other side of the porthole.
